Bridgehill Fire Blankets – Now Officially EV Approved
Bridgehill Fire Blankets are now officially EV approved! The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) recently presented findings from its EV fire suppression research. Multiple suppression methods were tested, including water, chemical agents, high-pressure appliances, and fire blankets.
Several fire blankets failed early in testing due to lack of heat-resistant coating and inadequate thermal performance. Only one made it through to full-scale vehicle fire testing: Bridgehill.
What NFPA Found
NFPA tested multiple suppression methods, including water, chemical agents, high-pressure appliances, and fire blankets. Several fire blankets failed early in the evaluation due to a lack of heat-resistant coating and/or insufficient thermal performance.
Only the Bridgehill fire blanket advanced to full-scale EV fire testing and delivered:
- Full fire and vapor containment
- No reignition after 60 minutes
- Safe gas levels at removal
- 0% stranded energy
Why It Matters for Firefighters
Bridgehill's fire blanket enables a faster, safer, and more resource-efficient response to EV fires. The NFPA's recent findings show that vapor containment can be achieved in just 10 minutes, compared to 24 minutes using water alone. Deploying the fire blanket takes less than 2 minutes, meaning it can immediately halt fire spread, reduce smoke and toxic gas exposure, and limit the risk for firefighters.
Market Clarity: Not All Blankets Are Created Equal
Fire blankets have for a period faced skepticism, often due to substandard products and improper use. The NFPA tests revealed a clear distinction: blankets without heat-resistant coating failed to meet thermal containment and safety thresholds. Only Bridgehill's fire blanket advanced to full-scale vehicle fire testing and met every operational benchmark.
