Recovery Driver
Class 1, Class 2 and 3.5 tonne drivers wanted across our Midlands operation. Roadside assistance, vehicle recovery and transport work, and no two shifts are the same.
The Role
You’ll be out on the network recovering vehicles: anything from a car that won’t start on a driveway to an HGV blocking a live carriageway. Some days it’s straightforward transport work. Others you’ll be working alongside the police and Highways at an incident.
It’s a job for people who can think on their feet, stay calm under pressure, and treat customers well on what is usually a bad day for them.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Attending roadside breakdowns and recovering vehicles safely
- Operating slidebeds, underlifts and winching equipment (training given)
- Working with control to plan and update jobs through the shift
- Daily vehicle checks and keeping your truck clean and serviceable
- Dealing with customers, police and Highways professionally at scene
- Completing paperwork and job records accurately
What We’re Looking For
Essential
- •A valid UK driving licence: C+E, C, C1 or B depending on the role
- •A sensible licence record (some points are fine, just tell us)
- •Willingness to complete police vetting
- •Good spoken English and a calm manner with customers
- •Reliability. People are waiting at the roadside
Helpful, but not essential
- •Previous recovery or roadside experience
- •Driver CPC (in date)
- •Mechanical knowledge or a workshop background
- •Familiarity with the Midlands road network
- •IVR or similar recovery qualifications
New to recovery? Don’t rule yourself out. If you’ve got the licence and the right attitude, we’ll train you on the equipment.
Hours & Pay
Full-time permanent positions with shift patterns depending on depot and role, including days, nights and on-call rotas. We’ll be straight with you about the pattern before you commit to anything.
Rates are competitive and based on experience, licence category and shift pattern. We’ll discuss specifics with you at interview.
